Many credit counselling organizations are nonprofit and work with you to solve your financial problems. But be aware that, just because an organization says it's "nonprofit", there's no guarantee that its services are free, affordable, or even legitimate.

For consumers not in serious debt but perhaps looking for answers to their questions, or simply wanting to better manage their finances, in most cases it will require self-study. For most consumers in serious debt, however, there are few alternatives. But the good news is, there are options available that can amicably resolve most debts without filing bankruptcy.

Most consumer credit counselling services are non profit organizations established to provide financial assistance to consumers at little cost. They work directly with creditors and will work out a manageable program to get you out of debt.
